RAMADAN DAY 09: SALAWAT UPON THE PROPHET

During Ramadan, hearts soften, distractions reduce, and remembrance of Allah becomes more frequent. Among the simplest yet most powerful acts of worship in this blessed month is sending salawat upon the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Allah commands this noble act in the Qur’an:

“Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings and peace upon him.”

This command alone shows the elevated status of salawat. When a believer says, “Allahumma salli ‘ala Muhammad,” they are participating in an act already performed by Allah and His angels.

IMMENSE REWARD FOR A SIMPLE ACTION

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“Whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah sends ten blessings upon him.”
Sahih Muslim

In Ramadan, when rewards are multiplied, imagine the weight of consistently sending salawat throughout the day. One sentence can bring ten mercies from Allah. Ten sentences can bring a hundred. The scale increases beyond what we can calculate.

REVIVING THE HEART THROUGH SALAWAT

Sending blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ:

• Softens the heart
• Removes spiritual heedlessness
• Brings tranquility
• Strengthens love for the Messenger ﷺ
• Becomes a means for forgiveness

It requires no special condition. You can say it while walking, cooking, driving, waiting, or resting. It fits naturally into every moment of your day.

A PRACTICAL GOAL FOR DAY 09

Make a realistic target today:

• 100 salawat after Fajr
• 100 before Maghrib
• Or set intervals throughout the day

Consistency builds spiritual momentum. The more you remember the Prophet ﷺ, the more your connection to his Sunnah strengthens.

As Ramadan progresses, increase in actions that are easy yet heavy on the scale. Salawat is one of them. Let your tongue remain moist with blessings upon the one who brought guidance to the world.

May Allah increase our love for His Messenger ﷺ, accept our salawat, and grant us his intercession. Ameen.
