ZAMZAM WELL: HISTORY AND ETIQUETTE

The Zamzam Well is one of the greatest blessings connected to the Kaaba. For centuries, millions of pilgrims have drunk from it during Hajj and Umrah, carrying with them memories of mercy, survival, and divine provision.

Its story begins with trust in Allah, hardship, and miraculous relief.

What is Zamzam?

Zamzam is the blessed water source that Allah caused to spring near the feet of Prophet Ismail when he was an infant. His mother, Hajar, ran desperately between the hills of Safa and Marwah searching for water.

Allah answered her struggle with a spring that continues to benefit people until today.

Why is Zamzam special?

1. A miracle from Allah

It began in a barren valley with no visible means of survival.

2. Connected to Sa’i

Every pilgrim walking between Safa and Marwah remembers the sacrifice of Hajar.

3. Blessed Water

The Prophet ﷺ spoke about the benefit and blessing of Zamzam.

Etiquette of Drinking Zamzam

Remember Allah before drinking.

Many scholars mention this as recommended etiquette.
