GROWTH OF GOOD DEEDS IN RAMADAN
Ramadan is not only a month of fasting; it is a season of multiplied rewards. It is a divine opportunity where ordinary actions can carry extraordinary weight on the scale of deeds. For the believer, this month is a spiritual investment period every sincere act has the potential to grow beyond expectation.
MULTIPLICATION OF REWARDS
Allah سبحانه وتعالى reminds us in the Qur’an that good deeds are multiplied many times over. In Ramadan, scholars explain that the multiplication increases due to the sacredness of the time. Just as deeds performed in Makkah carry greater reward because of the sacred place, deeds performed in Ramadan carry greater reward because of the sacred month.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Whoever fasts Ramadan out of faith and seeking reward, his previous sins will be forgiven.”
Sahih al-Bukhari
This hadith establishes a powerful principle: intention (niyyah) transforms routine abstinence into immense spiritual profit.
FASTING AS A SPECIAL ACT OF WORSHIP
Unlike other deeds, fasting holds a unique status. In a hadith qudsi, the Prophet ﷺ narrated that Allah says:
“Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it.”
Sahih Muslim
Scholars explain that this indicates a reward without measure. While other good deeds may be multiplied ten, seventy, or seven hundred times, the reward for fasting is left open-ended known only to Allah.
SMALL DEEDS, HUGE IMPACT
Ramadan teaches us that no good deed is insignificant:
• Feeding a fasting person earns the reward of their fast.
• Smiling and maintaining good character preserve your reward.
• Giving charity, even a small amount, weighs heavily in this blessed month.
• Reciting a single letter from the Qur’an carries multiplied reward.
Consistency matters more than quantity. A small act done daily throughout Ramadan can outweigh a large act done once.
PROTECTION FROM SPIRITUAL LOSS
Growth of good deeds is not only about doing more it is also about protecting what you earn. The Prophet ﷺ warned that fasting without guarding one’s tongue and behavior can reduce its reward. Ramadan trains discipline: controlling anger, avoiding gossip, and speaking truthfully all preserve the multiplication of deeds.
Laylatul Qadr further magnifies this growth. Worship on that single night is better than a thousand months. One sincere du‘a, one heartfelt sajdah, can transform a believer’s destiny.
MAXIMIZING YOUR GROWTH THIS RAMADAN
1. Set clear spiritual targets (Qur’an recitation, charity, dhikr).
2. Attach sincerity to every action.
3. Avoid sins that erode reward.
4. Seek consistency over intensity.
5. Make abundant du‘a for acceptance.
Ramadan is a mercy. It is a gift. It is a chance to accumulate deeds that may carry you safely into Jannah.
May Allah allow our good deeds to grow, multiply, and be accepted. Ameen.
