ADHKAR BEFORE SLEEPING: END YOUR DAY WITH PEACE AND PROTECTION

Nightfall is not just the end of a busy day; it is a quiet handover of the soul to its Creator. Islam treats sleep as a small journey into vulnerability, which is why the Prophet ﷺ taught us simple adhkar to seal the day with remembrance, peace, and divine protection.
Before closing your eyes, these practices help calm the heart and place your trust fully in Allah.
Begin by making wudu if you are able. Physical cleanliness prepares the body, while intention prepares the soul. Then lie on your right side, following the Sunnah, and let the world slow down.
Recite Ayatul Kursi. The Prophet ﷺ taught that whoever recites it before sleeping will be protected by Allah throughout the night, and no harm will come near them until morning. It is a reminder that Allah’s power surrounds you even when you are unaware.
Recite Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Falaq, and Surah An-Nas. Cup your hands, recite the three surahs, and gently wipe over your body. Repeat this three times. This nightly act becomes a shield protecting you from harm, fear, envy, and unseen troubles.
Say the tasbih of sleep: SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times, and Allahu Akbar 34 times. This remembrance carries immense weight. It replaces exhaustion with contentment and trains the heart to end the day in gratitude rather than worry.
End with the dua taught by the Prophet ﷺ:
“Bismika Allahumma amutu wa ahya.”
With Your Name, O Allah, I die and I live.
This short supplication surrenders the soul completely to Allah, acknowledging that waking up is not guaranteed, but mercy always is.
Adhkar before sleep does not lengthen the night it deepens it. These moments of remembrance wash away the noise of the day and allow the believer to rest under divine care.
For pilgrims preparing for Hajj or Umrah, practicing these adhkar builds spiritual discipline that carries beautifully into the sacred journey. A heart trained in remembrance finds comfort anywhere.
At 3SixtyIslam, we share reminders that help Muslims live intentionally by day and by night. May Allah grant you peaceful sleep, protected nights, and mornings filled with barakah.
