THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYING SALAH EVEN WHEN LIFE GETS BUSY
Life can become demanding. You may have examinations to prepare for, deadlines to meet, customers to attend to, children to care for or responsibilities that seem never-ending.
Sometimes, when the day becomes stressful, Salah is the first thing people begin to postpone.
They tell themselves they will pray when things become easier. Unfortunately, life does not always become less busy.
As Muslims, we must learn that our responsibilities should not make us forget our responsibility towards Allah.
ALLAH SHOULD REMAIN AT THE CENTRE OF YOUR LIFE
Allah says:
“Recite, [O Muhammad], what has been revealed to you of the Book and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing, and the remembrance of Allah is greater. And Allah knows that which you do.” Qur’an 29:45
Salah is more than a religious obligation. It is a regular reminder of our purpose and our relationship with Allah.
When life becomes overwhelming, prayer reminds us that we are not living without direction. We have a Creator to worship, guidance to follow and an everlasting Hereafter to prepare for.
DO NOT WAIT FOR LIFE TO BECOME PERFECT BEFORE YOU PRAY
Some people believe they will become more consistent with Salah when they finish school, get a job, get married or settle their financial problems.
But every stage of life comes with its own responsibilities.
If you wait until everything is perfect, you may continue postponing your worship.
Instead, learn to make room for Salah within your present circumstances.
A student can organise study breaks around prayer times. A worker can make arrangements for prayer during the working day. A business owner can plan activities around the five daily prayers.
Being busy should encourage you to manage your time wisely, not abandon your obligations.
SALAH CAN HELP YOU RESET YOUR DAY
Think about how often you become stressed, frustrated or overwhelmed by daily activities.
Salah gives you an opportunity to pause, remember Allah and turn your attention towards Him.
You can bring your worries into your du’a, ask for guidance and seek strength to handle your responsibilities.
It does not mean every problem will disappear immediately after prayer. Rather, you are reminded that your difficulties do not have to separate you from Allah.
PROTECT YOUR FIVE DAILY PRAYERS
Do not allow your phone, work, entertainment or social activities to control your prayer schedule.
Make Salah a non-negotiable part of your daily routine. If you struggle with consistency, begin by identifying the prayer times you frequently miss and make a practical plan to improve.
Keep returning to Allah, even when you have struggled.
HEART CHECK
Your life may be busy, but never become too busy for the One who gave you life.
Do not give the world your entire attention while giving your Creator whatever time is left.
Make time for Allah, because Salah is not an interruption to your life; it is part of your purpose in life.
REFLECTION: What activity frequently makes you postpone your Salah, and what change can you make today?
DU’A: O Allah, help me remember You in every situation, establish my prayers and never allow my daily responsibilities to distract me from my purpose. Ameen.
