DO YOU ONLY REMEMBER ALLAH WHEN YOU NEED SOMETHING?

Think about the last time you experienced a serious problem.

Perhaps you were worried about money, waiting for an important opportunity, dealing with sickness or hoping for something you desperately wanted.

What did you do?

You probably made du’a, prayed extra prayers and asked Allah repeatedly to help you.

But what happens when the problem disappears? Do you continue remembering Allah, or does your connection with Him gradually become weak again?

This is something every Muslim should reflect upon.

ALLAH DESERVES TO BE REMEMBERED IN GOOD AND DIFFICULT TIMES

Allah says:

“And when adversity touches man, he calls upon Us, whether lying on his side or sitting or standing; but when We remove from him his adversity, he continues [in disobedience] as if he had never called upon Us to [remove] an adversity that touched him.”

Qur’an 10:12

This verse describes a human weakness: calling upon Allah during hardship but becoming forgetful when relief comes.

We should not allow ourselves to develop this attitude.

Allah is not only the One we turn to when we need something. He is our Creator, Sustainer and Lord, and He deserves our worship and gratitude at all times.

DO NOT LET COMFORT MAKE YOU FORGET YOUR CREATOR

When life is difficult, we often recognise how much we need Allah.

But when our health is good, our finances improve and our plans succeed, we may become distracted by our achievements.

We begin to spend less time making du’a, reading the Qur’an and remembering Allah.

We may even begin to believe that our success came entirely from our personal efforts.

Remember that every ability, opportunity and blessing comes from Allah.

Your good health, family, knowledge, provision and opportunities are all blessings that deserve gratitude.

BUILD A CONNECTION WITH ALLAH THAT IS NOT BASED ONLY ON YOUR NEEDS

You do not need to wait for a crisis before you make du’a.

Remember Allah when you wake up. Thank Him for the blessings you enjoy. Read a portion of the Qur’an. Maintain your daily adhkar and establish your prayers.

When something good happens, praise Allah. When something difficult happens, turn to Him for help.

Let your relationship with Allah remain part of your everyday life.

GRATITUDE SHOULD CONTINUE AFTER YOUR DU’A IS ANSWERED

Imagine praying for a job and finally getting one. Do not allow the job to become the reason you stop praying.

Imagine asking Allah for good health and recovering from an illness. Do not forget the One who granted you healing.

When Allah answers your prayers, let the experience bring you closer to Him rather than further away.
