There is probably something you are waiting for right now.
Maybe it is a job.
Maybe marriage.
Maybe healing.
Maybe academic success.
Maybe a family situation to improve.
Maybe you are waiting for Allah to open a door you have been praying about for a long time.
Whatever it is, ask yourself:
What am I learning while I wait?
PATIENCE IS NOT JUST ABOUT TIME
Sometimes we think sabr means:
“I just need to wait until this situation ends.”
But patience is also about who you become while you are waiting.
Are you becoming more grateful?
More disciplined?
More dependent on Allah?
More compassionate towards others?
More careful about your choices?
A difficult season can teach things that comfort never could.
TALK TO ALLAH ABOUT YOUR WAITING
You don’t have to hide your frustration from Allah.
You can say: “Ya Allah, this is difficult for me.”
“Ya Allah, give me the strength to remain patient.”
“Ya Allah, if this is good for me, make it easy for me.”
“Ya Allah, if it is not good for me, help me accept what You choose.”
Your dua can include both your hopes and your weakness.
DON’T FORGET WHAT YOU ALREADY HAVE
While waiting for one blessing, don’t overlook the blessings already surrounding you.
Your life.
Your health.
Your family.
Your faith.
Your ability to make dua.
The opportunity to repent.
The chance to try again.
Sometimes we become so focused on what has not arrived that we stop noticing what Allah has already given us.
So today, pause.
Thank Allah for what you have.
Ask Him for what you need.
And ask Him to give you sabr with a heart that remains close to Him.
