Sometimes you can genuinely care about someone and still not end up together.
That can be one of the hardest realities to accept.
You may have imagined a future with them.
You may have prayed about the relationship.
You may have believed they were the person you would marry.
Then things changed.
The relationship ended.
Or circumstances made it impossible.
And now you have to learn how to let go.
LOVE DOES NOT GUARANTEE A FUTURE
Having strong feelings for someone does not mean they are meant to remain in your life.
As Muslims, we believe Allah knows what we do not know.
Allah says: “Perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, you do not know.”(Qur’an 2:216)
You may love something that Allah knows would not be good for your deen, your future or your wellbeing.
That does not make your feelings fake.
It means feelings alone cannot determine what is best.
LETTING GO CAN BE AN ACT OF TRUST
Sometimes trusting Allah means accepting a closed door even when you desperately wanted it to stay open.
You may cry.
You may miss the person.
You may need time to heal.
But you can still say:
“Ya Allah, if this is not good for me, help my heart accept Your decision.”
Don’t keep reopening a wound by constantly checking their social media, rereading old messages or looking for reasons to contact them.
Give your heart space to heal.
DON’T LET ONE PERSON BECOME YOUR ENTIRE FUTURE
Your life is bigger than one relationship.
You still have a relationship with Allah.
You have responsibilities.
You have talents.
You have family and friends.
You have a future you cannot yet see.
And above everything, you have a Lord who knows exactly what is ahead.
You don’t have to understand today why a particular person was not written for you.
Sometimes faith means trusting Allah with the parts of your story you don’t understand.
