When we think about the Battle of Badr, we may think about a great battle in Islamic history.
But behind that event were human beings—people who were young, afraid, hopeful and determined.
The companions who participated in Badr demonstrated extraordinary courage and faith.
Some young companions wanted to stand with the Muslims despite their age.
Among them were the young brothers Mu’adh and Mu’awwidh رضي الله عنهما, who were eager to contribute at Badr. Their youth did not stop them from wanting to stand for what they believed was right.
Their story reminds us that
Today’s youth may not be facing the same circumstances, but they face their own battles.
The battle against peer pressure.
The battle against addiction.
The battle against inappropriate content.
The battle against laziness.
The battle against abandoning Salah.
The battle against losing one’s identity.
WHAT CAN YOU LEARN?
1. Courage is choosing what is right despite fear.
You don’t need to be fearless. You need to be willing to do what is right.
2. Don’t underestimate young people.
Young Muslims can make meaningful contributions to their families and communities.
3. Know what you stand for.
If you don’t know your values, the world will easily choose them for you.
4. Keep Allah at the centre of your struggles.
Success is not only about strength or numbers. The believers relied upon Allah.
The youth around the Prophet ﷺ were not sitting around waiting for adulthood before becoming useful.
They learned, served, sacrificed and stood for their faith.
