The early Muslims did not have an easy beginning.
When the Quraysh saw that Islam was spreading, they tried different ways to stop the message of the Prophet ﷺ. Among the painful trials was the social and economic boycott imposed on Banu Hashim and the Muslims who stood with the Prophet ﷺ.
For years, they experienced severe hardship.
Food was scarce.
Life was difficult.
Yet the believers remained patient and continued holding firmly to their faith.
Their experience teaches today’s youth an important lesson:
Being tested does not mean Allah has abandoned you.
Sometimes you may experience difficulties because you are trying to do what is right.
You may be mocked for practising Islam.
Friends may distance themselves from you.
You may struggle financially.
You may experience disappointment or rejection.
Patience does not mean pretending that difficulties don’t hurt.
It means continuing to trust Allah while doing what you can.
LESSONS FOR YOUTH
1. Hard times don’t last forever.
Difficult periods can pass, even when they feel endless.
2. Don’t abandon your deen because of pressure.
Your relationship with Allah is worth protecting.
3. Surround yourself with people who strengthen you.
The believers supported one another during difficult times.
4. Turn to Allah when life becomes difficult.
Don’t allow hardship to push you away from Salah and Qur’an. Let it push you closer to Allah.
HEART CHECK
The early Muslims experienced hardship that many of us can hardly imagine. Yet they remained firm.
So when life becomes difficult, remember: Your test is not proof that Allah has forgotten you. Keep praying. Keep trusting. Keep going.
