Zayd ibn Thabit رضي الله عنه was a young companion of the Prophet ﷺ who became known for his intelligence, learning and service to Islam.
He learned to read and write and was involved in writing revelation for the Prophet ﷺ. He also learned languages so that he could assist with communication.
His story shows us something powerful:
Youth is a time for preparation.
You may look at your current skills and think they are small.
Maybe you are learning graphic design.
Maybe you’re learning a language.
Maybe you’re improving your writing.
Maybe you’re studying technology.
Maybe you’re learning Qur’an.
Don’t underestimate these skills.
With the right intention, your knowledge can become a means of serving people and benefiting your community.

Don’t only chase what is trending. Learn things that can genuinely benefit you and others.
2. Take your education seriously.
Your education can become a tool through which you serve your deen and your community.
3. Use your abilities for good.
Ask yourself how your talents can benefit others.
4. Start young.
You don’t need to wait until you are 30, 40 or 50 before developing yourself.
