THE GIRL WHO CHOSE ALLAH OVER THE CROWD

She wanted to fit in.

She wanted to be accepted by her friends. She wanted to laugh with them, dress like them, follow the latest trends and never be the person who was considered “too religious.”

At first, she didn’t think there was anything wrong with it.

After all, everyone was doing it.

But slowly, she began to notice something.

The more she tried to please the crowd, the further she felt from Allah.

THE PRESSURE TO FIT IN

For many young Muslim girls, being different can feel difficult.

You may be surrounded by friends who don’t understand why you pray, why you dress modestly, why you avoid certain relationships, or why you refuse to participate in things that go against your values.

Sometimes, the pressure isn’t even spoken.

You see what everyone else is wearing.

You see what everyone else is posting.

You see who is dating, partying, travelling and living what appears to be a “perfect” life.

And somewhere in your heart, you begin asking:

“Why can’t I just be like them?”

But following the crowd doesn’t always mean you are going in the right direction.

SHE BEGAN TO LOSE HERSELF

The girl started making small compromises.

She missed salah because she was busy with her friends.

She stopped dressing the way she used to because she didn’t want to stand out.

She began participating in conversations she knew were wrong.

She laughed at things she once considered inappropriate.

She started doing things simply because she was afraid of being called boring.

Nobody forced her.

She was simply afraid of being different.

And that is how many people slowly drift away from what they once believed.

Not through one huge decision, but through many small compromises.

THEN SHE ASKED HERSELF A QUESTION

One night, she sat alone and thought about her life.

She realised something painful.

She had been trying so hard to gain the approval of people who might not even remember her choices years from now.

But what about Allah?

She asked herself:

“If I lose Allah while trying to impress people, what have I really gained?”

That question changed something inside her.

She realised that people would always have opinions.

If she dressed modestly, someone might call her old-fashioned.

If she refused to do something wrong, someone might call her boring.

If she became serious about her deen, someone might say she had changed.

But she finally understood that being misunderstood by people is better than disappointing Allah.

CHOOSING ALLAH DOESN’T MEAN HATING PEOPLE

Choosing Allah doesn’t mean becoming rude, arrogant or treating everyone who lives differently as an enemy.

Islam teaches us good character.

You can be kind without following every trend.

You can respect people without copying everything they do.

You can have friends without allowing them to control your choices.

You can live in society without allowing society to decide your relationship with Allah.

The goal isn’t to isolate yourself from the world.

The goal is to live in the world without allowing the world to take Allah out of your heart.

SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO STAND ALONE

There may be moments when choosing Allah means standing alone.

Maybe your friends are going somewhere you shouldn’t go.

Maybe everyone is participating in something you know is wrong.

Maybe someone you care about is encouraging you toward a relationship that isn’t good for your deen.

Maybe you are being pressured to abandon something Allah has commanded.

In those moments, you may feel lonely.

But remember: being alone for a moment is better than losing yourself forever just to belong.

Allah knows every sacrifice you make for His sake.

And what you give up for Allah is never truly wasted.

YOUR WORTH DOES NOT COME FROM THE CROWD

Social media can make young people feel as though their value depends on likes, followers, comments, appearance and popularity.

But your worth isn’t determined by how many people notice you.

Your worth isn’t determined by whether you look like the latest trend.

And your value isn’t reduced because you choose modesty, faith and obedience.

You are a servant of Allah before you are anything else.

That identity is more valuable than any approval the world can give you.

CHOOSE THE PEOPLE WHO HELP YOU GROW

You don’t have to walk your journey alone.

Look for friends who respect your boundaries and encourage you to become better.

A good friend won’t make you feel ashamed for praying.

A good friend won’t pressure you into sin.

A good friend won’t constantly make you choose between friendship and your deen.

Instead, they will remind you when you forget, encourage you when you struggle and celebrate your progress.

The Prophet (SAW) taught that a person is influenced by the religion and way of their close friend, so we should be careful about whom we take as close companions.

SHE FINALLY MADE HER CHOICE

She didn’t become perfect overnight.

She still struggled.

She still made mistakes.

But she stopped living for the approval of the crowd.

She started protecting her salah.

She became more conscious of what she watched, listened to and participated in.

She became comfortable saying “No.”

And most importantly, she stopped being ashamed of choosing Allah.

Maybe some people walked away.

Maybe some friendships changed.

But she gained something far more important:

She began finding her way back to Allah.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO BE DIFFERENT FOR ALLAH

If you are a young Muslim girl struggling with the pressure to fit in, remember this:

You don’t have to follow everyone to be valuable.

You don’t have to compromise your deen to be loved.

You don’t have to abandon your principles to have friends.

And you don’t have to be ashamed of choosing Allah.

The crowd may not always understand your choices.

That’s okay.

Because at the end of the day, you weren’t created to live for the approval of people.

You were created to worship Allah.

So when you are forced to choose between pleasing the crowd and obeying Allah, choose Allah.

Choose Allah even when it is difficult. Choose Allah even when nobody applauds you. Choose Allah even when you have to stand alone.

Because the approval of people is temporary, but the pleasure of Allah is worth everything.
