Sheikh Ibrahim bin Adel Hamza Al-Madani, a muezzin of the Grand Mosque in Makkah, Masjid Al-Haram, has passed away.
His death was announced early Monday by Inside the Haramain, an X account known for reporting on the two Holy Mosques.
According to the announcement, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani raised his final Adhan at Masjid Al-Haram on Monday, 11 Rabi Al-Awwal 1448 AH.
“It is with great sadness we share the news of the death of the Muadhin of Masjid Al Haram, Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani,” the account announced.
The funeral prayer for the late muezzin will be performed after the Asr prayer on Monday at Masjid Al-Haram. He will subsequently be laid to rest at Al-Mu‘alla Cemetery in Makkah.
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani was formally appointed as a muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in 1439 AH (2017–2018).
Born in Madinah in 1397 AH (1976), he was raised in a religious household. His paternal grandfather, who was a memoriser of the Qur’an, played an important role in influencing him from an early age.
At the age of 15, Sheikh Ibrahim began calling the Adhan at a neighbourhood mosque in Madinah. He served alongside three other neighbours, taking turns to call the Adhan until he graduated from college.
He later stepped away from the role for a period due to teaching commitments outside Madinah.
In 1428 AH (2007–2008), he was invited to resume calling the Adhan at Masjid Al-Maddah, where he continued serving until his appointment as a muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram in 1439 AH.
Having grown up in Madinah, Sheikh Ibrahim was deeply influenced by the Madinan style of the Adhan. He also became familiar with the distinctive Makkan style through visits to Makkah with his father, during which he met Sheikh Abdul Latif Mulla, a former muezzin of Masjid Al-Haram and a friend of his grandfather.
Sheikh Ibrahim Al-Madani held an academic qualification in Qur’anic Studies and dedicated many years of his life to calling the Adhan and serving the Houses of Allah.
