AMUNI EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION AWARDS 25 LASU STUDENTS WITH FINAL-YEAR PROJECT GRANTS

Twenty-five final-year students from the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts, Lagos State University (LASU), have received cash grants through the Final-Year Project Support Award of the Alhaji (Chief) Abdulwahab Oladipupo Amuni Educational Foundation.
The award ceremony, organised by the Department of Foreign Languages in collaboration with the Foundation, was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at the Language Laboratory, Faculty of Arts, LASU, Ojo. The initiative was dedicated to preserving the legacy of the late Alhaji (Chief) Abdulwahab Oladipupo Amuni, whose lifelong commitment to education and philanthropy continues to benefit students.
The event attracted members of the university community, academics, philanthropists, and students, all united in promoting academic excellence and supporting undergraduate research.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, Dr. S. O. Timehin, described the initiative as an outstanding example of how partnerships between educational institutions and philanthropic organisations can positively impact students’ academic pursuits. He noted that the financial support would ease the burden of final-year research expenses while motivating recipients to strive for excellence.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor of LASU, Professor Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, Deputy Registrar of the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Dr. Lateef Shekoni, commended the Foundation for complementing the university’s efforts to promote quality education. He urged the beneficiaries to remain disciplined and committed to producing quality research, describing the award as both recognition for hard work and an investment in future scholars and leaders.
Facilitator of the programme, Professor Abdulkudus Amuni, explained that the Foundation was established to preserve the legacy of the late Alhaji Abdulwahab Oladipupo Amuni through sustained investment in education and human capital development. He encouraged the beneficiaries to use the grants responsibly and uphold the values of integrity, diligence, and service to humanity.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Professor Ayo Ayodele, praised the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to educational development, describing the initiative as a worthy investment in the nation’s future. He also made a personal financial contribution to support the sustainability of the project.
Similarly, the Special Guest of Honour, Professor Moruf S. Animashaun, applauded the Foundation for addressing the academic needs of students through meaningful intervention. He encouraged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies and announced a personal donation in support of the Foundation’s educational programmes.
During the presentation of the awards, Professor Abdulkudus Amuni reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting deserving students and encouraging academic excellence in honour of the late Alhaji Abdulwahab Oladipupo Amuni.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Miss Maryam Motunrayo Lawal expressed gratitude to the Department of Foreign Languages and the Amuni Educational Foundation for the timely support. She said the grants would greatly assist students in completing their final-year research projects and pledged that the beneficiaries would justify the confidence placed in them through academic excellence and exemplary conduct.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Sub-Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Dr. Tijani Mogaji, who appreciated the Foundation, university management, invited guests, members of staff, and all stakeholders whose contributions made the programme a success. He expressed optimism that the collaboration would continue to create more educational opportunities for students and inspire similar interventions across the university.
