WHEN YOUR IMAN FEELS LOW: WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?

There are days when you feel close to Allah.

Salah feels meaningful. Qur’an feels comforting. Du’a comes easily.

Then there are other days when everything feels different.

Your heart feels tired. Worship becomes difficult. You do not feel the same excitement about your deen.

What should you do when your iman feels low?

FIRST, DON’T PANIC

Iman can increase and decrease.

The important thing is not to become comfortable with distance from Allah.

When you notice your iman becoming weak, treat it as a reminder to return—not as a reason to give up.

RETURN TO THE BASICS

When your iman feels low, do not make your religious routine unnecessarily complicated.

Start with the obligations.

Protect your five daily prayers.

Read some Qur’an.

Make dhikr.

Stay away from obvious sins.

Make sincere du’a.

Sometimes the way back begins with simple, consistent actions.

CHECK WHAT IS FEEDING YOUR HEART

Your heart is affected by what you repeatedly watch, listen to, think about and surround yourself with.

Ask yourself:

What am I consuming every day?

Who am I spending most of my time with?

What kind of content fills my mind?

What habits are making me feel further from Allah?

Not everything that entertains you is necessarily good for your heart.

MAKE DU’A FOR YOUR IMAN

The Prophet ﷺ taught us to ask Allah for firmness.

One well-known supplication is “O Turner of the hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your religion.” — Jami’ at-Tirmidhi

This reminds us that we need Allah’s help.

Do not depend only on your own strength.

Ask Allah to strengthen your heart.

DON’T WAIT FOR THE PERFECT FEELING

You may think, “When my iman improves, I will pray more.”

But sometimes your iman improves because you continue praying even when you do not feel motivated.

Keep showing up.

Keep turning to Allah.

Keep making the effort.

Feelings can change, but obedience should remain.

LOW IMAN DOES NOT MEAN A LOST HEART

If you are struggling, do not label yourself a failure.

A weak moment can become the beginning of a stronger return.

Take one step today.

Pray one prayer with more focus.

Read a few verses.

Make sincere istighfar.

Turn off the distractions and talk to Allah.

HEART CHECK

Your iman may feel weak today, but your journey back to Allah can begin today too.
