SANWO-OLU MOURNS RENOWNED ISLAMIC SCHOLAR, SHEIKH IMAM TIJANI GBAJABIAMILA

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned Islamic scholar and Olori Imam Ratibi of Lagos, Sheikh Imam Tijani Olubodun Shehu Gbajabiamila.

In a statement released on Wednesday through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu described the late cleric’s death as a significant loss to the Muslim Ummah and the people of Lagos State.

The Governor paid glowing tribute to Sheikh Gbajabiamila, noting that his lifetime of service, scholarship, and spiritual leadership left an enduring legacy within the Muslim community and beyond.

He said the late Olori Imam Ratibi was a dedicated Islamic scholar, respected teacher, and passionate religious leader whose contributions helped shape the spiritual and moral values of countless individuals.

“On behalf of my family, the people, and the Government of Lagos State, I commiserate with the immediate family, friends, associates, and the entire Muslim community over the passing of the Olori Imam Ratibi of Lagos, Sheikh Imam Tijani Olubodun Shehu Gbajabiamila,” the Governor said.

“He was a dedicated and committed Muslim scholar, respected teacher, and passionate religious and community leader. During his lifetime, he played a vital role in shaping the spiritual and social fabric of our society.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu further prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that he be granted Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus, while also praying for strength and patience for his family, associates, and the entire Muslim community to bear the loss.

The passing of Sheikh Imam Tijani Gbajabiamila marks the end of an era for many Muslims in Lagos who benefited from his years of religious guidance, scholarship, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Islam.

His death has continued to attract tributes from government officials, religious leaders, and members of the Muslim community, who remember him as a man of piety, wisdom, and selfless service.

May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings, expand his grave, illuminate it with His mercy, and admit him into the highest ranks of Al-Jannah Al-Firdaus. Ameen.
