RAMADAN DAY 13 : STRENGTHENING DHIKR

Dhikr is a constant connection with Allah.

Remembering Allah is one of the most accessible  yet most profound  acts of worship. It is not restricted to a masjid, nor confined to a specific hour. It travels with the believer: on the road, at work, while waiting, in moments of silence, and even in hardship.

Allah says:

“O you who believe, remember Allah with much remembrance.”
Surah Al-Ahzab 33:41

This command is general and continuous. It is not seasonal. It is not occasional. It is a lifestyle.

During Ramadan, we naturally increase our acts of worship. But the goal is not merely to increase the quantity of dhikr — it is to increase its quality. Dhikr should not become a hurried formula on the tongue while the heart is distracted. It should be conscious, present, and sincere.

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“The example of the one who remembers his Lord and the one who does not is like the living and the dead.”
Sahih al-Bukhari 6407

This comparison is precise. Dhikr revives the heart. It removes spiritual rust. It stabilizes emotions. It softens anger. It strengthens tawakkul. In Ramadan, when the soul is already sensitive and receptive, dhikr penetrates deeper.

Simple phrases carry immense weight:

SubhanAllah — affirmation of Allah’s perfection.
Alhamdulillah — recognition of His blessings.
Allahu Akbar — declaration of His greatness above all concerns.
La ilaha illa Allah — the foundation of faith.

These are not light statements. They are theological affirmations that shape worldview and character.

Strengthening dhikr in Ramadan can be structured:

• Fix a daily minimum (for example, 100 istighfar).
• Link dhikr to routine actions after salah, while driving, before sleep.
• Recite slowly and understand what you are saying.
• Pause and reflect on the meaning of each phrase.

Ramadan disciplines the body through fasting. Dhikr disciplines the heart through remembrance.

If you want your Ramadan to leave a lasting mark, anchor it in consistent dhikr. Let your tongue move frequently, but let your heart move with it.

When the month ends, what will remain is not only how much you recited — but how deeply you remembered.

May Allah make us among those whose hearts find tranquility in His remembrance, and may He make our tongues constant in dhikr, in Ramadan and beyond.
