SPIRITUAL DIGEST: RAMADAN DAY 1 – A SUPPLICATION FROM SURAH AL-BAQARAH (QUR’AN 2:127)

Alhamdulillah, we have witnessed the first day of Ramadan. A new beginning. A new opportunity. A fresh chance to return to Allah with sincerity.

Today’s spiritual reflection is taken from Surah Al-Baqarah (2:127):

“Rabbana taqabbal minnaa innaka Antas Samee’ul Aleem.”

   رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ

“Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing.”

This du’a was made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Isma’il (AS) while building the Ka‘bah  an act of worship so عظیم, yet they still asked Allah to accept it from them.

What does this teach us on the first day of Ramadan?

It teaches us humility.

No matter how much we fast, pray, give, or recite  acceptance is not automatic. It is a gift from Allah. That is why the believer does not rely on actions alone, but constantly asks for acceptance.

As we begin this blessed month, let this be our mindset:

  • We fast, but we ask Allah to accept it.
  • We pray, but we ask Allah to accept it.
  • We give charity, but we ask Allah to accept it.

Ramadan is not just about doing more. It is about doing sincerely and begging Allah for qabool (acceptance).

On this Day 1, make this du’a your daily companion. Repeat it after salah. Whisper it in sujood. Teach it to your family.

May Allah accept our fasting, our du’as, our charity, and every hidden good we strive to do this Ramadan. Ameen.
