The Sultan of Sokoto and President General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs(NSCIA), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Friday, 31st July as the Eid-El-Kabir day of the year.
The Muslim leader made this known in a statement signed by the Chairman of Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu on Wednesday.
The Sultan also advised Muslim communities across the country to observe Eid prayers at Jumu’at mosques instead of Eid grounds as part of efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
While wishing Muslims a happy Eid celebration, the Sultan urged them to pray for “peace, progress and development of the country. “
