TEN MOST IMPORTANT SURAH OF THE HOLY QURAN
The Quran is a holy book that provides mankind with a complete code of guidance. Every Muslim has a responsibility to read and comprehend the Quran in its entirety, including all of its meanings. It is the last holy book that the angel Jibrael delivered to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Every Surah and verse in this holy book have its unique significance and meaning. It’s stated in the Quran. The Quran contains 114 surahs, each separated by ayahs (verses). The chapters, or surahs, differ in length; the shortest surah (Al-Kawthar) has only three verses, while the longest (Al-Baqara) has 286. 86 of the Quran’s 114 chapters are Meccan, while 28 are Medinan. There are 6,236 verses in the Quran (excluding Bismillah) and 6348 verses (including Bismillah). These are some of the verses Holy Quran listed below:
- Surah Fatah: Surah Fatiha is the most recited and easiest surah of the Holy Quran. It is a surah for Shifa- cure for illness, The Holy Prophet (SAW) said: Surah Fatiha is a cure from every illness (Bahiqi), Ubadah bin As-Samit reported Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W) said: Whoever does not recite Surah Fatihah in his prayer, his prayer is invalid. (Bukhari).
- Surah Baqarah: The longest surah of the Holy Quran is Surah Baqarah. Al-Baqarah means The Cow. It is the second surah of the Quran. Surah Baqarah has 255 Verse and it is known as Ayat ul Kursi. This verse is also known to be the Throne of Allah. The recitation of this verse keeps you away from the evil eye and black magic. It is mostly recited for the purpose of protection. Reciting Suratu Bakarah in the house keeps satan away from the house. It has been reported from Abu Huraira that the Holy Prophet( SAW) said: Do not make your houses as graveyards. Satan runs away from the house in which Surah Baqarah is recited. (Muslim 4:1707)
- Surah Al-Kahf: Recitation of Surah Al-Kahf every Friday, will bring light beneath your feet on the day of resurrection Sins will be forgiven between two Fridays. The person who memorizes the first 10 verses of this surah will be protected against Dajjal. The Prophet (SAW) said: The person who memorizes the first ten verses of surah Kahf will be protected against the Dajjal.
- Surah Yaseen: The heart of the Quran. Recite in a day, the reward is equal to 10 times recitation of the Holy Quran. Prophet Muhammad (SAW): Whoever recites Yaseen once, Allah will record the reward of reciting the Quran ten times. (Tirmidhi 2812/A).
- Surah Mulk: Recite before sleeping, Allah will send angels to protect you. from any harm. The Surah will plead on the reciter’s behalf for Allah’s forgiveness. Abu Hurairah reported that He heard Holy Prophet (SAW) saying that there is a Surah in the Quran which contains thirty Ayat which kept interceding for a man until his sins are forgiven. (Al- Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud).
- Surah Kauthar: The shortest surah in the Holy Quran. Recitation will bring you under the protection of Allah against your enemies.
- Surah Kafiroon: Reciting Surah Kafiroon rewards you with the recitation equal to a quarter of the Quran. Recite 11 times after Fajr and 11times after Isha ends jealousy from one’s heart and increases love and affection. It’s also clearance from shirk. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, Recite surah al Kafirun and then go to sleep after coming to its end, for it is a clearance from shirk.
- Surah Iklas: suratu Iklas have great Virtues and rewards. Its recitation is equal to the recitation of one-third of the Quran. Lie on your right side recite 100 times every night, Allah on the day of resurrection will make you enter paradise. Recite upon entering the house eradicate poverty in the house. Anas (R) has reported Prophet (SAW) said: “If anyone who is about to sleep on his bed lies on his right side, then recited Al-Ikhlas 100 times, Allah will say to him on the Day of the resurrection, ‘My slave, enter Paradise to your right side.'” (Tirmidhi).
- Surah Falaq: Reading this surah during Ramadan, the rewards are equal to fasting in Makkah. The person will also be rewarded equal to those who perform Hajj or Umrah. Best for protection against Jinns, magic and evil eyes. The Prophet (S.A.W) used to seek refuge from the jinn as well as from the evil eye until Surah al Falaq and Al Naas were revealed. When they were sent down, he utilised them and left other things. (Tirmidhi 1984, Riyad as-Salihin).
- Surah Nas: Whoever recites this surah keeps himself safe from Jinns, from pain and also from magic. Whenever Prophet Muhammad (SAW) become ill, he will recite surat ul Falaq and Nas and rub his hand over his body. Whoever recites this surah keeps himself safe from Jinns, from pain and also from magic.
