One of the beautiful qualities found among the companions of the Prophet ﷺ was their eagerness to do good without always seeking recognition.
They understood something that is easy for us to forget:
A good deed does not become more valuable simply because people know about it.
Sometimes, the greatest acts of charity are the ones nobody sees.
A person may quietly feed someone who is hungry.
Someone may secretly help a family struggling financially.
Another may give charity without ever allowing the recipient to know who gave it.
These acts may never become famous stories on social media.
But they are known to Allah.
THE SEVEN PEOPLE SHADED BY ALLAH
The Prophet (SAW) described seven categories of people whom Allah will shade on the Day when there will be no shade except His shade.
Among them is a person who gives charity so secretly that even their left hand does not know what their right hand has given.
The point is not that every charity must literally be invisible.
The deeper lesson is the sincerity behind the giving.
The person is not looking for applause.
They are giving because they want Allah’s reward.
Imagine having a good deed that nobody on earth can use to praise you. You did it, you moved on and Allah recorded it.
That is sincerity.
WHAT CAN YOUNG MUSLIMS LEARN FROM THIS?
You don’t have to be wealthy to practise secret charity.
You can give a small amount.
You can buy food for someone.
You can help a classmate.
You can support someone who is struggling.
You can even give your time.
Charity is not only about money.
HEART CHECK
Sometimes your kindness, effort, knowledge and assistance can be a form of sadaqah. The important thing is to remember Who you are doing it for.
