RAMADAN DAY 21: WHEN THE WORLD SLEEPS THE WORSHIP OF THE NIGHT

As Ramadan enters its final ten nights, the atmosphere of worship becomes deeper and more meaningful. While much of the world sleeps, believers rise in the quiet hours of the night to stand before Allah in prayer. These peaceful moments of night worship hold a special place in Islam and carry immense spiritual rewards.

Night worship, often known as Qiyam or Tahajjud, has always been a practice of the righteous. It is a time when the heart is calm, distractions are minimal, and a person can turn to Allah with complete sincerity. In the silence of the night, a believer finds a unique closeness with their Creator.

During the last ten nights of Ramadan, these moments become even more valuable. Hidden within these nights is Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree, which Allah describes in the Qur’an as better than one thousand months. This means that standing in prayer during these nights could carry rewards greater than a lifetime of worship.

The Prophet ﷺ gave great importance to night worship during the final days of Ramadan. He would increase his prayers and dedicate more time to remembrance and supplication. He also encouraged his family to wake up and participate in the blessings of these nights.

Night worship does not have to be complicated. It can begin with simple voluntary prayers after the obligatory Isha prayer. Some people choose to wake up later in the night for Tahajjud, while others extend their Taraweeh prayers. The goal is to spend part of the night in sincere devotion to Allah.

One of the most powerful aspects of night worship is the opportunity for heartfelt dua. In these quiet hours, a believer can speak to Allah openly, asking for forgiveness, guidance, and blessings. These are moments when the heart softens and the soul reconnects with its true purpose.

Reciting the Qur’an during the night also carries special beauty. The calmness of the late hours allows a person to reflect deeply on the meanings of the verses. Many believers find that their focus and understanding increase when they read the Qur’an during these peaceful moments.

Another important element of night worship is humility. Standing before Allah reminds a believer of their dependence on Him. It is a time to seek mercy, admit mistakes, and ask for a better future.

Although waking up at night may seem difficult at first, the spiritual reward makes the effort worthwhile. Even a short prayer or a few minutes of sincere supplication can carry great blessings, especially during the last ten nights of Ramadan.

These nights remind us that true success is not found in worldly comfort but in closeness to Allah. While the world rests, believers rise in worship, hoping that their prayers will be accepted and their sins forgiven.

As we continue through the last ten nights, let us try to dedicate part of the night to worship, reflection, and sincere prayer. These quiet moments may become the most valuable moments of our Ramadan.

May Allah accept our night prayers and grant us the blessings of Laylatul Qadr. Ameen.
