IS ALLAH PLEASED WITH MY RAMADAN? 7 SIGNS TO REFLECT ON

As Ramadan progresses, a common internal question begins to surface: Is my worship being accepted? More specifically, is Allah pleased with how I am observing this month?

While no one can definitively judge acceptance except Allah, Islamic scholarship has always encouraged believers to look for signs of positive change. Acceptance is often reflected in transformation.

Below are seven practical indicators you can use to evaluate your Ramadan so far.

1. YOUR OBLIGATORY PRAYERS HAVE IMPROVED

The first and most important sign of a meaningful Ramadan is improvement in the five daily prayers.

Ask yourself:
• Are you praying more consistently on time?
• Is your concentration improving?
• Are you treating salah as a priority rather than an afterthought?

If voluntary acts have increased but obligatory prayers remain weak, then priorities need correction. The foundation of spiritual success begins with obligations.

2. YOU ARE MORE CONSCIOUS OF YOUR SPEECH

Ramadan trains the tongue as much as it trains the stomach.

A positive sign includes:
• Reduced gossip.
• Less arguing.
• Avoiding sarcasm or harsh words.
• Speaking thoughtfully instead of impulsively.

If you pause before speaking and ask yourself whether something is necessary or beneficial, that is growth.

3. YOU FEEL DISCOMFORT WHEN YOU SIN

One major indicator of spiritual sensitivity is discomfort with wrongdoing.

If certain behaviors that once felt normal now make you uneasy, that is not weakness it is progress. A heart that feels regret is alive.

Indifference toward sin is more dangerous than committing it.

4. YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE QUR’AN HAS STRENGTHENED

Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an.

This does not only mean completing recitation. It includes:
• Understanding meanings.
• Reflecting on verses.
• Applying lessons.
• Listening attentively.

If the Qur’an feels less distant than before Ramadan, that is a strong sign of spiritual benefit.

5. YOUR PATIENCE HAS IMPROVED

Fasting naturally tests patience.

You may be tired, hungry, or busy yet you choose restraint.

If you notice:
• Fewer angry Better control in stressful moments.
• Greater tolerance toward others,

then Ramadan is working internally.

6. YOU ARE THINKING BEYOND RAMADAN

Another positive sign is planning for consistency after Ramadan.

If you are asking yourself:
• “How do I maintain this prayer routine?”
• “How can I continue giving charity?”
• “How do I preserve these habits after Eid?”

then you are thinking long-term. True acceptance often leads to sustained effort.

7. YOU FEEL HOPE  NOT DESPAIR

A balanced Ramadan produces both humility and hope.

If you feel motivated to improve rather than defeated by your shortcomings, that is healthy. Shaytan pushes people toward hopelessness. Growth pushes people toward renewal.

Even if your Ramadan has not been perfect, a sincere desire to improve is itself a sign of goodness.

WHAT IF YOU DON’T SEE THESE SIGNS?

If you evaluate yourself and notice gaps, do not panic.

The purpose of reflection is correction.

There are still days remaining. The last ten nights carry immense reward. A strong ending can compensate for a weak beginning.

Acceptance is not measured by how emotionally intense your Ramadan felt. It is measured by whether you are moving in the right direction.

FINAL REFLECTION

Instead of asking, “Was my Ramadan impressive?” ask:

“Did I become more disciplined, more conscious, and more sincere?”

If the answer is even slightly yes, then continue building.

If the answer is no, then adjust now  not later.

Ramadan is still here.
