NAHCON PARTNERS WITH ALTERNATIVE BANK TO LAUNCH DIGITAL PLATFORM FOR HAJJ SAVINGS SCHEME
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is set to introduce a new digital platform that will allow intending pilgrims to open and manage their Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) accounts directly from their smartphones, tablets, and computers.
The initiative aims to simplify access to the scheme while expanding its reach nationwide.
At a meeting held on August 26, 2025, at NAHCON’s headquarters in Abuja, officials of the Hajj Savings Scheme met with a delegation from the Alternative Bank to finalize discussions on the development of the platform.
The session, which took place in the commission’s conference hall, was led by the Head of the Hajj Savings Scheme, Barrister Abdulmumin Aliyu, alongside senior staff of NAHCON. Representing the Alternative Bank was IT expert Ms. Rabiat Akinwale, who assured the commission of the bank’s commitment to building a secure and user-friendly platform.
In his remarks, Barrister Aliyu described the project as a significant step toward modernizing Hajj planning and empowering prospective pilgrims to save with ease.
“The website will give intending pilgrims full control over their Hajj Savings Scheme accounts from their smartphones or other devices. It will also integrate with Alternative Bank branches nationwide,” Aliyu said.
He explained that the platform would provide real-time information, eliminate paperwork, and reduce delays in account management once applicants created their profiles using BVN, NIN, phone number, and email address.
Speaking on behalf of the Alternative Bank, Ms. Akinwale emphasized the institution’s dedication to ensuring security and transparency.
“Our goal is to enable pilgrims to open and monitor their HSS accounts anytime, anywhere, while maintaining the highest security standards,” she said.
Both NAHCON and the Alternative Bank agreed to fast-track the project, with the aim of making the platform operational as soon as possible. This will enable intending pilgrims to save more conveniently and prepare effectively for their spiritual journey to Hajj.
