HAMZAT URGES NIGERIANS TO REMEMBER THEIR CREATOR WHILE EMBRACING TECHNOLOGY

Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has called on religious leaders across the country to guide their congregations in balancing technological advancements with spiritual consciousness.

He emphasized that as Nigerians embrace technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI), they should not lose sight of their faith and moral values.

Dr. Hamzat made this statement on Saturday during the fourth Annual Ramadan Lecture/Iftar and Special Prayer in memory of Late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat, organized by Hon. Moses Oluwatoyin Fayinka, a Member of the Federal House of Representatives (Mushin Constituency II), in Mushin, Lagos.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Governor highlighted the influence of AI on humanity, urging clerics to educate their followers on its responsible and ethical use.

He stressed the importance of guiding children to leverage AI advancements in a godly manner, ensuring that technology serves as a tool for progress rather than a distraction from faith.

Speaking on the relevance of the event, the Deputy Governor emphasised the importance of children remembering their parents even in death, as it helps to honour them and preserve the legacy they have set while living.

Earlier in his speech, the Organiser of the Special Prayer, a Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Mushin Constituency II, Hon. Oluwatoyin Fayinka urged the Muslim faithful to coexist peacefully and extend love and affection to everyone, irrespective of
their faiths.

Fayinka also reflected on the late Oba Mufutau Olatunji Hamzat, describing him as a visionary leader, a beacon of hope, and a champion of unity.

He noted that Oba Hamzat’s commitment to serving people from all backgrounds left an enduring legacy, and holding the annual special prayer in his honor is a way of remembering his good deeds and reaffirming his dedication to faith and service.

In his lecture titled “Justice,” Sheikh Almudeen Mubarak emphasized the importance of equality and fairness in society.

He urged all Nigerians to uphold justice by treating everyone with fairness, regardless of status or background.

The event served as a reminder of the balance between faith and progress, urging individuals to embrace technological advancements while remaining deeply rooted in their spiritual and ethical values.
