THE MUSLIM YOUTH AND THE FEAR OF FAILURE
What if I fail?
What if I don’t get the admission?
What if the business doesn’t work?
What if I apply and they reject me?
What if everyone moves ahead while I remain behind?
Fear of failure can become so strong that a young person stops trying altogether.
But failure is not always the opposite of success.
Sometimes it is part of the journey toward it.
FAILURE DOES NOT DEFINE YOU
You can fail an examination without being a failure.
You can lose a business opportunity without being useless.
You can make a mistake without becoming a hopeless person.
A result tells you what happened in one situation. It does not tell you everything about who you are.
Do not turn:
“I failed”
into:
“I am a failure.”
Those are not the same thing.
ISLAM TEACHES US TO STRIVE
Allah says:
«“And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives.” — Qur’an 53:39»
Your responsibility is to make the effort.
Study.
Prepare.
Practise.
Ask for help.
Try again.
Then trust Allah with the outcome.
SOMETIMES THE LESSON IS IN THE FAILURE
Failure can reveal things success hides.
It can teach patience.
It can expose weaknesses.
It can encourage you to seek knowledge.
It can make you more disciplined.
It can teach you to depend on Allah rather than on your own abilities.
Ask yourself after a disappointment:
What can I learn from this?
Instead of only asking:
“Why did this happen to me?”
DON’T COMPARE YOUR JOURNEY
Social media can make failure feel worse because you constantly see people announcing their achievements.
Someone has graduated.
Someone has opened a business.
Someone has bought a car.
Someone has travelled.
Someone has received an award.
But you are seeing their highlights, not their entire journey.
Allah has given every person a different path.
Your journey does not have to look like someone else’s.
TRY AGAIN
Perhaps your first attempt did not work.
Learn from it.
Improve.
Make du’a.
Try again if the opportunity remains right for you.
And if another door opens, be willing to walk through it.
Allah says: «“Perhaps you dislike a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you like a thing and it is bad for you. Allah knows, and you do not know.” — Qur’an 2:216»
Failure can hurt.
But do not let fear prevent you from pursuing something beneficial.
HEART CHECK
You are not required to succeed at everything. You are required to keep striving, learn from your experiences and trust Allah with the results.
