Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has reportedly embraced Islam after reciting the Shahadah in Doha, Qatar.
The 33-year-old Nigerian defender, who currently plays for Qatar Stars League side Al-Ahli, was seen in a video reciting the two testimonies of faith, declaring his acceptance of Islam.
Troost-Ekong earned 83 caps for Nigeria and captained the Super Eagles to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Player of the Tournament. He announced his retirement from international football in 2025.
As he begins this new chapter, we congratulate William Troost-Ekong and pray that Allah guides, strengthens and grants him steadfastness upon the faith.
