WHY GOOD FRIENDS ARE ONE OF ALLAH’S BLESSINGS
Some people enter your life and simply make you laugh.
Others enter your life and help you become a better person.
That second kind of friendship is a blessing.
A good friend is not simply someone who is always available to hang out.
A good friend can become someone who helps protect your faith.
A GOOD FRIEND REMINDS YOU OF ALLAH
The Prophet ﷺ said: “A person is upon the religion of his close friend, so let each of you look at whom he befriends.”
> (Jami’ at-Tirmidhi 2378; Sunan Abi Dawud 4833)
Think about the people closest to you.
What happens to your behaviour when you are around them?
Do you become more responsible?
Do you pray together?
Do you encourage one another?
Or do you become comfortable doing things you would normally avoid?
Your closest friendships matter.
GOOD FRIENDS CORRECT YOU
A real friend does not simply tell you what you want to hear.
Sometimes they say:
“This isn’t right.”
“You shouldn’t do that.”
“Have you prayed?”
“You need to apologise.”
They correct you because they care about where your choices are taking you.
YOU ALSO HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY
Don’t only look for good friends.
**Be one.**
Be the friend who keeps someone’s secret.
The friend who checks in.
The friend who celebrates another person’s success.
The friend who gives sincere advice.
The friend who reminds others of Allah without humiliating them.
The best friendships are not built on perfection.
They are built on sincerity, mercy and helping one another towards what is good.
HEART CHECK
Are you only searching for good friends, or are you also becoming a good friend?
