DON’T POSTPONE REPENTANCE
Every new week is a reminder that Allah has given us another opportunity to return to Him. While many people make plans for their careers, businesses, and personal goals, few make a sincere plan to seek Allah’s forgiveness. Yet repentance is one of the greatest blessings Allah has granted His servants.
No one is free from sin. We all make mistakes, whether through our words, our actions, or even our thoughts. The difference between a righteous person and one who persists in wrongdoing is not that one never sins, but that one turns back to Allah whenever they fall.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
“All the children of Adam are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent.”
(Tirmidhi)
Many people delay repentance because they believe they have plenty of time. They tell themselves they will change after achieving certain goals, after getting married, after making more money, or when they become older. But none of us knows how much time remains. Every day that passes is one day closer to meeting Allah.
True repentance requires sincerity. It begins with recognising our mistakes, feeling genuine remorse, immediately abandoning the sin, and resolving never to return to it. If the sin involves the rights of another person, those rights should also be restored.
Allah’s mercy is greater than any sin. No matter how far a person has strayed, the door of repentance remains open until death approaches. Allah loves those who constantly return to Him seeking forgiveness and striving to improve themselves.
As this week begins, take a few moments to reflect on your relationship with Allah. Increase your recitation of Astaghfirullah. Ask Allah to forgive both your known and unknown sins. Let every prayer include a sincere plea for His mercy.
A heart that constantly repents never loses hope, because it knows that Allah is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. Let this week be remembered not only for the goals you achieved in this world but also for the steps you took towards earning Allah’s forgiveness and pleasure.
