MAKE DU’A YOUR FIRST RESPONSE, NOT YOUR LAST OPTION
One of the greatest mistakes many Muslims make is treating du’a as a last resort. We often try every possible solution before turning sincerely to Allah. We rely on our experience, our connections, and our own abilities, only remembering to raise our hands when every other door appears to have closed.
The believer, however, understands that du’a is not a sign of weakness. It is one of the greatest acts of worship and one of the strongest expressions of faith. Before making an important decision, starting a business, attending an interview, travelling, or facing a difficult situation, the Muslim first turns to Allah, knowing that all success comes from Him alone.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
“And your Lord says, ‘Call upon Me; I will respond to you.'”
(Qur’an 40:60)
This beautiful promise should fill every believer with hope. Allah never grows tired of hearing the prayers of His servants. No matter how many times we ask, His treasures never diminish, and His mercy never runs out.
Sometimes we make du’a expecting an immediate answer. When the answer does not come quickly, we become discouraged. But Islam teaches us that Allah answers every sincere supplication in the best way. He may grant exactly what we asked for, delay it until the right time, replace it with something better, or reward us for it in the Hereafter. Every sincere du’a benefits the believer.
As you begin this week, make du’a a daily habit rather than an occasional act. Ask Allah for guidance before making decisions. Ask Him to bless your work, protect your family, increase your provision, forgive your sins, and keep your heart firm upon Islam.
A week that begins with sincere du’a is a week that begins with hope, because the believer knows that no matter what lies ahead, Allah is always in control.
