THE STATION OF IBRAHIM: ITS SIGNIFICANCE AND TIPS FOR PILGRIMS AT THE KAABA

Among the sacred landmarks near the Kaaba is Maqam Ibrahim, the Station of Ibrahim. Many pilgrims pass by it during Tawaf without fully understanding its history and significance.
Knowing its meaning helps transform a simple visit into a deeper spiritual experience.
WHAT IS THE STATION OF IBRAHIM
Maqam Ibrahim is the stone associated with Prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him during the building of the Kaaba.
It is reported that he stood upon it while raising the walls of the Kaaba with his son Ismail peace be upon him. By the permission of Allah, marks of his feet were left upon the stone.
Today it is preserved in a protective glass enclosure near the Kaaba within the Sacred Mosque in Makkah.
MENTIONED IN THE QUR’AN
Allah honored this place in the Qur’an and instructed believers to take the Station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.
Because of this, it carries immense spiritual value and remains one of the visible signs connected to the legacy of Ibrahim peace be upon him.
A SYMBOL OF SACRIFICE AND BUILDING FOR ALLAH
Maqam Ibrahim reminds pilgrims of effort, sacrifice, and obedience.
The Kaaba was not built through comfort. It was built through devotion, labor, trust in Allah, and family cooperation in worship.
When pilgrims see Maqam Ibrahim, they are reminded that lasting sacred legacies are built through sincerity and struggle.
WHAT TO DO AFTER TAWAF
It is Sunnah after completing Tawaf to pray two raka’ah if possible.
Many pilgrims try to pray directly behind Maqam Ibrahim, but this is not required. Due to crowds, it is completely acceptable to pray anywhere in the mosque where space is available.
Do not create congestion or disturb others trying to force a close spot.
