SPIRITUAL DIGEST: RAMADAN DAY 2 (A SUPPLICATION FROM SURAH AL-BAQARAH 2:128)
Ramadan is a month of submission, purification, and returning sincerely to Allah.
On this second day, we reflect on a powerful supplication made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and Prophet Isma’il (AS) a du’a that teaches us humility, legacy, and repentance.
TODAY’S QUR’AN REFLECTION
Surah Al-Baqarah (2:128)
Transliteration:
Rabbanaa waj‘alnaa muslimayni laka wa min dhurriyyatinaaa ummatan muslimatan laka wa arinaa manaaskanaa wa tub ‘alaynaa innaka anta At-Tawwaabur-Raheem.
Translation:
“Our Lord, make us Muslims in submission to You and from our descendants a Muslim nation in submission to You. Show us our rites of worship and accept our repentance. Indeed, You are the Accepting of Repentance, the Most Merciful.”
REFLECTION
This du’a is powerful for three reasons:
1️⃣ They asked for personal submission not just faith by name, but true surrender to Allah.
2️⃣ They prayed for their descendants teaching us to think beyond ourselves.
3️⃣ They asked for acceptance of repentance showing that no matter how righteous we try to be, we still need Allah’s mercy.
Ramadan is not just about hunger.
It is about surrender.
It is about raising righteous generations.
It is about returning to Allah again and again.
Today, ask yourself:
• Am I truly submitting?
• Am I praying for my future generations?
• Am I sincerely repenting?
May Allah make us and our families people of submission and accept our tawbah. Ameen
