NAHCON CONFIRMS FIRE AT PILGRIMS’ HOTEL IN MAKKAH, NO CASUALTIES RECORDED, NEW ACCOMMODATION ARRANGED

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has confirmed a fire outbreak at the Imaratus Sanan Hotel located on Shari Mansur Street in Makkah on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The hotel was accommodating 484 Nigerian pilgrims under the care of six licensed private tour operators.
Fortunately, no casualties were recorded, as the majority of the pilgrims had already moved to Mina for the Hajj rites when the incident occurred. The swift response from Saudi emergency services and the hotel management ensured the fire was quickly contained, preventing further damage.
NAHCON Chairman, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, led a delegation of officials to inspect the scene and assess the welfare of the pilgrims. Following the inspection, NAHCON immediately made alternative arrangements and has now secured a new hotel to house the affected pilgrims.
Professor Abdullahi directed the prompt relocation of the pilgrims and assured them that all necessary support would be provided to minimize the disruption. He expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the safety of all involved and commended the Saudi emergency teams and hotel staff for their quick intervention.
The Chairman also lauded the calm and cooperation of the affected pilgrims, reaffirming NAHCON’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of Nigerian pilgrims throughout the Hajj exercise.
