SPIRITUAL DIGEST: RAMADAN DAY 19 (A DU’A FROM SURAH AL-BAQARAH)
The spiritual digest for Ramadan day 19 is a supplication from Surah Al-Baqarah (2:127).
رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا ۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
Rabbanaa takabal minna innaka anta samiihul aliim
(Al Baqarah 127)“Our Lord! Accept (this service) from us; for You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.” (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:127)
This verse is part of the dua made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his son Ismail (AS) as they were rebuilding the Ka’bah.
Despite their great efforts, they remained humble and asked Allah to accept their work.
This teaches us a powerful lesson: No matter how righteous our deeds are, we should always seek Allah’s acceptance.
Lessons and Deeper Meaning
1. Humility in Worship:
Even Prophet Ibrahim (AS), a beloved prophet of Allah, asked for acceptance rather than assuming his efforts were enough.
This reminds us that true sincerity comes with humility—we should never feel entitled to rewards for our deeds.
2. The Importance of Acceptance:
A deed is only valuable if Allah accepts it.
This dua should be recited after any act of worship, such as prayers, charity, fasting, and good deeds, to ask Allah to accept our efforts.
3. Allah’s Attributes: The All-Hearing, All-Knowing:
As-Sami’ (The All-Hearing) – Allah hears all supplications, whispered or unspoken.
Al-‘Aleem (The All-Knowing) – Allah knows our sincerity and intentions behind every action.
This reinforces that Allah sees beyond actions—He judges based on sincerity.
How This Verse Applies to Us Today
- After Every Good Deed: Always ask Allah to accept your prayers, charity, fasting, and acts of kindness.
- Humility in Worship: Never feel that your actions guarantee reward—seek Allah’s mercy and approval.
- Purity of Intentions: Remember that sincerity matters more than quantity in worship.
Hadith Connection
The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:
“Allah only accepts deeds that are done sincerely for His sake alone.” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 3140)
