TOP BOLLYWOOD STARS FACE SOCIAL MEDIA FURY AFTER GIVING BABY DAUGHTER AN ARABIC NAME
On social media, Bollywood actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have faced harsh criticism over the name they chose for their infant girl.
In September, Padukone gave birth to a daughter, and on the Hindu holiday of Diwali, which is regarded as auspicious, the pair posted a photo of the child online.
Only the baby’s feet were shown in the Instagram image. Dua Padukone Singh was the caption. “Dua” means “prayer,” because our prayers have been answered by her. Love and gratitude abound in our hearts.
“Dua” is an Arabic term that signifies “prayer” or “supplication.” Dua is seen as a kind of worship in Islam and is a prayer of invocation to ask God for assistance.
The couple received a tonne of criticism about the name shortly after the post was made public, with many people questioning why a word linked with Islam rather than Hinduism was chosen.
