To carry out this year’s holy pilgrimage, the first and second groups of 845 pilgrims from Ogun State, escorted by representatives of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, have arrived in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
About 11.15 a.m. on Sunday, the first group of pilgrims landed at Prince Mohammed Bin Abdulaziz Airport, and on Monday, the second group arrived via Flynas Airline.
Confirming the arrival of the pilgrims to journalists in Medina, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Dauda Salau, said “the third batch of pilgrims are expected to land before the end of the week and we want to express our gratitude to Allah for a safe journey.
“And we must also not forget to thank Gov Dapo Abiodun for the support given towards the success of this year Hajj operations so far. We are promising that the pilgrims would give a good account of themselves throughout the exercise.”
Salau added by advising the pilgrims to keep in mind and utilise the information acquired from the sensitisation programmes organised for them prior to their departure, imploring them to follow the rules and obey the officials throughout their stay in the holy land.
Reacting, one of the pilgrims, Alhaji Tijani Fadilullai, said the journey from the Hajj camp in Lagos to Medina was flawless, commending the state officials for their diligence.
