When the Muslims migrated from Makkah to Madinah, many of the Muhajirun left behind their homes, wealth and familiar surroundings.
They arrived in Madinah needing support.
The Ansar welcomed them.
The Prophet ﷺ established a bond of brotherhood between the Muslims, bringing people from different backgrounds together through faith.
This teaches today’s youth something very important:
Islam is bigger than tribe, nationality, social class or background.
Today, young Muslims can sometimes divide themselves based on where they come from, how much money they have, the schools they attend or even how popular they are.
But Islam teaches us to value people for their faith and character.
LESSONS FOR YOUTH
1. Welcome people who feel like outsiders.
You may be the person who makes someone feel included.
2. Don’t judge people by their background.
Someone’s tribe, accent, clothes or financial situation does not determine their worth before Allah.
3. Be generous.
Generosity is not only about money. You can give your time, knowledge, encouragement and support.
4. Build unity.
Don’t be the person who creates unnecessary divisions among Muslims.
HEART CHECK
The Muhajirun and Ansar show us what can happen when believers choose brotherhood over division. Be the Muslim who brings people together, not the one who pushes them apart.
