Your friends may influence you more than you realise.
The way they speak can influence your speech.
The things they watch can influence what you watch.
Their attitude toward Salah can influence yours.
Their attitude toward sin can eventually affect how you view sin.
That is why the Prophet ﷺ taught Muslims to be careful about the company they keep.
The Prophet ﷺ gave the example of a good companion and a bad companion, showing that companionship has an effect on a person.
ASK YOURSELF:
Who do I spend most of my time with?
Do my friends encourage me to become closer to Allah?
Can I tell them “no” when they invite me to something wrong?
Do I feel comfortable practising my Islam around them?
These questions matter.
A friend doesn’t have to be perfect. We are all human.
But a good friend should not constantly pull you away from Allah.
WHAT CAN YOUTH DO?
Choose friends who respect your values.
Be the friend who reminds others to pray.
Don’t follow friends into haram simply because you fear losing them.
If a friendship constantly damages your deen, create healthy boundaries.
HEART CHECK
You don’t need hundreds of friends. One sincere friend who reminds you of Allah can be more valuable than many people who encourage you toward what harms your faith.
And remember: Don’t only search for good friends. Become one.
