In a world where people constantly compare themselves with others, it is easy for a young person to begin questioning their own worth.
“Why don’t I look like her?”
“Why don’t I have his money?”
“Why don’t I have as many followers?”
“Why isn’t my life as exciting as theirs?”
Social media can make it seem as though everyone else is living a perfect life while you are falling behind.
But Allah gives us a completely different standard of value.
ALLAH DOES NOT MEASURE YOU BY YOUR APPEARANCE
Allah says: “O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Surely Allah is All-Knowing, All-Aware.” Qur’an 49:13
Notice what Allah says makes a person noble: taqwa—being conscious of Allah and living according to His guidance.
Not beauty.
Not expensive clothes.
Not followers.
Not popularity.
Not your family name.
Not the number of people who know you.
STOP COMPARING YOUR JOURNEY
Someone may have the body you wish you had.
Someone may have the relationship you want.
Someone may have graduated before you.
Someone may have a better job.
Someone may be travelling while you’re struggling.
But Allah has written a different journey for every person.
You don’t know what someone else is going through behind the picture they posted.
Your value does not decrease because someone else has something you don’t.
WHAT REALLY MATTERS?
Ask yourself: What is my relationship with Allah?
Am I becoming a better Muslim?
Am I protecting my salah?
Am I improving my character?
Am I helping others?
Am I trying to stay away from what displeases Allah?
These are the things that matter far more than trying to impress people.
HEART CHECK
You don’t need the world’s approval to have value. You need to remember that your Creator knows you, sees you and knows the effort you are making.
Don’t spend your youth trying to become someone else. Become the best version of yourself in obedience to Allah.
