END EACH DAY WITH SELF-ACCOUNTABILITY
One of the qualities of sincere believers is that they regularly examine themselves before they are called to account by Allah. Instead of allowing days to pass without reflection, they pause to evaluate their actions, seeking to improve and draw closer to their Lord.
Life moves quickly. A busy schedule can make one day blend into the next, and before long, weeks and months have passed. Without self-accountability, a person may continue repeating the same mistakes without realizing how far they have drifted from the path of righteousness.
At the end of each day, take a few quiet moments to ask yourself some honest questions. Did I perform my five daily prayers on time? Did I remember Allah throughout the day? Did I speak kindly to others? Did I fulfil my responsibilities with sincerity? Did I avoid sins of the tongue such as gossip, lying, and backbiting? What good deed did I perform today solely for the sake of Allah?
This daily reflection should not lead to despair. Rather, it should motivate positive change. If you find that you fell short, seek Allah’s forgiveness immediately and resolve to do better the next day. If Allah enabled you to perform good deeds, thank Him, because without His guidance, none of us could achieve righteousness.
One of the greatest dangers is becoming comfortable with our shortcomings. A believer never assumes that they have done enough. They continue striving, asking Allah to accept their efforts and forgive their deficiencies.
Make it a habit to end each day with istighfar, heartfelt du’a, and gratitude. Thank Allah for the blessings you received, seek forgiveness for your mistakes, and ask Him to grant you another day in His obedience.
If you spend every evening correcting yourself, every new morning becomes an opportunity to improve. Over time, these small moments of reflection can transform your character, strengthen your faith, and prepare you to meet Allah with a heart that is sincere and at peace.
