ARE YOU READY FOR LAYLATUL QADR? 7 THINGS TO START DOING TONIGHT
The final ten nights of Ramadan have arrived, and with them comes the search for one of the most powerful nights in the entire year Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree.
Allah describes this night in the Qur’an as better than a thousand months. That means the reward for worship on this single night is greater than worship performed for over eighty years. It is a gift from Allah to the Ummah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), allowing believers to gain immense rewards within a short lifetime.
But the question every believer should ask themselves is simple: Are we truly ready for Laylatul Qadr?
Since the exact night is unknown, the Prophet (peace be upon him) encouraged Muslims to search for it during the last ten nights of Ramadan, especially the odd nights. This means every night in this period is an opportunity that should not be wasted.
Here are seven important things every believer can start doing tonight to increase their chances of witnessing the blessings of Laylatul Qadr.
1. Increase Your Night Prayers
One of the greatest acts of worship during these nights is standing in prayer. Even praying a few extra units of prayer after Isha can bring enormous rewards. Night prayer allows the heart to connect deeply with Allah in moments of quiet and sincerity.
2. Make Abundant Dua
Laylatul Qadr is a night when prayers are accepted. This is the time to ask Allah for forgiveness, guidance, success, and blessings for both this life and the hereafter. Speak to Allah sincerely and open your heart in supplication.
3. Recite and Reflect on the Qur’an
Ramadan is the month in which the Qur’an was revealed, and Laylatul Qadr marks the beginning of that revelation. Reading and reflecting on the Qur’an during these nights strengthens faith and brings immense spiritual reward.
4. Recite the Special Dua for Laylatul Qadr
The Prophet taught Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) a powerful dua for these nights:
“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.”
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”
This supplication focuses on seeking Allah’s forgiveness, which is one of the greatest blessings a believer can receive.
5. Give Charity
Charity during Ramadan carries multiplied rewards, and giving during the last ten nights may mean your charity falls on Laylatul Qadr itself. Even small acts of giving can carry tremendous blessings.
6. Make Sincere Repentance
The last ten nights are a perfect opportunity to turn back to Allah with sincerity. Reflect on past mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and make a firm intention to improve moving forward.
7. Reduce Distractions
These nights are too valuable to waste on unnecessary distractions. Limiting time spent on social media, entertainment, or idle talk can help keep the heart focused on worship.
The reality is that Laylatul Qadr may arrive on any of these nights. It could be tonight. It could be tomorrow. No one knows except Allah.
But what we do know is that those who seek it with sincerity, devotion, and hope in Allah’s mercy will never leave empty-handed.
Ramadan is reaching its final chapter. The doors of mercy are still open. The rewards are still multiplying.
Start tonight. Increase your worship. Raise your hands in dua. Seek forgiveness from Allah.
Because Laylatul Qadr might be closer than you think.
