THE PROPHET’S SECRET FOR THE LAST 10 NIGHTS OF RAMADAN

As the final ten nights of Ramadan arrive, Muslims are reminded of how seriously the Prophet (peace be upon him) treated this special period. While he was devoted in worship throughout the entire year, his dedication during the last ten nights of Ramadan increased even more.

These nights were not ordinary nights for him. They were nights of intense worship, reflection, and deep connection with Allah.

Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that when the last ten nights of Ramadan began, the Prophet would **tighten his belt, spend the night in worship, and wake his family**. This statement carries powerful meaning and reveals the Prophet’s approach to these blessed nights.

“Tightening his belt” is understood by scholars to mean that the Prophet completely focused himself on worship and devotion. He reduced worldly activities and dedicated himself to prayer, remembrance, and seeking Allah’s mercy.

This teaches an important lesson for believers today. The last ten nights are not a time to relax or slow down. Instead, they are a time to increase effort and strive harder in worship than at any other time during Ramadan.

Another beautiful practice of the Prophet was waking his family for night prayers. He did not keep the blessings of these nights to himself. He encouraged those closest to him to also benefit from the immense rewards available during these nights.

This reminds us that Ramadan is not only a personal journey but also a family journey. Encouraging spouses, children, and loved ones to pray, make dua, and remember Allah together can strengthen faith within the home.

One of the main reasons the Prophet increased his worship during these nights is because they contain **Laylatul Qadr**, the Night of Decree. This night is described in the Qur’an as **better than a thousand months**, meaning worship performed on that single night carries rewards greater than worship performed for over eighty years.

Since the exact night is unknown, the Prophet encouraged Muslims to seek it throughout the last ten nights, especially the odd nights.

For believers, this means consistency is key. Even if someone cannot spend the entire night in prayer, dedicating a portion of the night for worship can still bring tremendous blessings.

During these nights, believers should focus on several acts of worship. Night prayers are among the most powerful ways to connect with Allah. Standing in prayer when the world is quiet allows the heart to focus completely on the Creator.

Reciting and reflecting on the Qur’an is another important act. Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an, and these nights provide a perfect opportunity to reconnect with its guidance.

Making dua is also highly recommended. The Prophet taught Aisha a special supplication to recite during these nights:

“Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni.”
“O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

This simple yet powerful dua reminds us that seeking Allah’s forgiveness should be one of our greatest priorities during these nights.

The last ten nights of Ramadan are truly a gift. They offer believers the chance to erase sins, gain immense rewards, and draw closer to Allah in ways that may not be possible at other times of the year.

Ramadan is almost over, but the greatest opportunity of the month is right here.

Follow the example of the Prophet. Increase your worship. Wake your family. Seek Allah’s mercy with sincerity.

Because one of these nights could be the night that changes your life forever.
