RAMADAN DAY 20: HOW TO PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR THE LAST 10 NIGHTS
As Ramadan enters its final phase, believers around the world prepare for the most powerful nights of the entire month the last ten nights. These are nights filled with mercy, forgiveness, and the possibility of witnessing Laylatul Qadr, the night that is better than a thousand months.
Reaching this stage of Ramadan is itself a blessing. Many began the month with hope and enthusiasm, but only those granted mercy from Allah are able to reach the final days. Now is the time to pause, reflect, and prepare the heart for the spiritual opportunity ahead.
Preparation for the last ten nights is not only about increasing acts of worship; it begins with renewing our intention. A believer reminds themselves that these nights may never come again in their lifetime. When this realization settles in the heart, every prayer, every dua, and every moment of remembrance becomes more sincere.
One of the first steps in preparing for the last ten nights is repentance. Ramadan is a time of purification, and sincere repentance cleans the heart so that it can fully connect with Allah. Turning to Allah with humility and asking for forgiveness opens the door to His mercy.
Another important preparation is organizing your time. The nights of Ramadan pass quickly, and without planning, valuable hours can slip away. Set aside time for night prayers, Qur’an recitation, and making dua. Even simple acts of worship done consistently throughout the night can carry immense rewards.
It is also important to reduce distractions. These final nights are not meant to be spent scrolling endlessly through phones or engaging in unnecessary activities. Limiting distractions allows the heart to remain focused on worship and reflection.
Many believers also revive the Sunnah of increasing night prayers during this period. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to intensify his worship during the last ten nights more than at any other time of the year. He would spend long hours in prayer and remembrance, seeking the mercy of Allah.
Another beautiful practice during these nights is making heartfelt dua. Speak to Allah about your hopes, your struggles, and your dreams for both this life and the hereafter. The doors of mercy are open, and Allah loves to hear the voice of His servants calling upon Him.
Most importantly, approach these nights with hope. Allah’s mercy is vast, and He welcomes every servant who turns back to Him sincerely. Whether a person feels they have fallen short earlier in Ramadan or not, the last ten nights offer a fresh opportunity to renew faith and strengthen one’s connection with Allah.
Ramadan is quickly approaching its end, but the greatest blessings of the month are still ahead. These nights carry opportunities that may never return.
Prepare your heart. Increase your worship. Seek forgiveness and make sincere dua.
Because one of these nights may hold the mercy that changes everything.
