WHO ARE THE PROPHETS MENTIONED IN THE QUR’AN?

The Qur’an introduces us to a long line of noble men chosen by Allah to guide humanity. Their stories are not tales for entertainment they are mirrors held up to our own lives, reminding us of patience, trust, courage, discipline, and unwavering faith. The Qur’an mentions twenty-five prophets by name. Each carries a unique mission, a distinct challenge, and a timeless lesson for every believer today.

The First of Humanity

Adam (AS)  The father of mankind and the first Prophet. His story teaches repentance, responsibility, and hope after mistakes.

The Prophets of Early Generations

Idris (AS) – A man of truth, patience, and wisdom.
Nuh (AS) – A symbol of unshakable perseverance, preaching the truth for centuries despite rejection.

Prophets After the Flood

Hud (AS) – Sent to the people of ‘Aad, calling them away from arrogance and pride.
Salih (AS) – Sent to the people of Thamud, who demanded a miracle yet betrayed their covenant.

Ilyas (AS) – A champion against idol worship.
Al-Yasa’ (AS) – His successor, known for righteousness.
Yunus (AS) – Who teaches the power of turning back to Allah with sincerity.
Zakariyya (AS) – A prophet of hope in old age.
Yahya (AS) – Pure, disciplined, and steadfast from childhood.

Maryam (AS) and the Miracle of Her Son

While not a prophet, Maryam (AS) is one of the greatest women in history honoured in a way no other woman is in any scripture.

‘Isa (AS) – Born by a command from Allah, performing miracles and calling people to pure monotheism.

The Final Messenger

Muhammad ﷺ – The seal of the prophets, the mercy to the worlds, the one whose message completes and perfects the chain of revelation.
