SAUDI ARABIA HOLDS FIRST WORLDWIDE ALLIANCE SUMMIT TO PUSH FOR PALESTINIAN-ISRAELI TWO-STATE SOLUTION
Prince Faisal demanded an immediate end to the conflict, urged the release of prisoners and hostages, and established accountability systems to deal with persistent abuses.
Saudi Arabia’s leadership in advancing peace and security in the Middle East was highlighted on Wednesday as Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the country’s foreign minister, opened the first meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
Aiming to mobilize international support for a workable, sustainable two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the alliance was announced last month in collaboration with foreign allies.
Prince Faisal opened the meeting by welcoming foreign delegations focused on peace-building initiatives along with Philippe Lazzarini, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
Prince Faisal addressed the growing violence in Palestine and Lebanon, denouncing the increasing Israeli transgressions and highlighting the urgent need for international assistance to stop such acts that jeopardize regional stability and the possibility of a peaceful two-state solution.
In addition to urging the release of hostages and detainees and the creation of accountability systems to address persistent abuses, Prince Faisal demanded an immediate ceasefire.
In light of the continuous difficulties in the Palestinian territories, he reiterated Saudi Arabia’s support for UNRWA’s vital role in providing humanitarian help.
Prince Faisal called on the international community to support initiatives aimed at maintaining the two-state solution as the cornerstone of regional peace for the long run.
He stressed the importance of creating an independent Palestinian state and putting an end to the occupation while outlining Saudi Arabia’s and its regional partners’ commitment to realistic, time-bound measures to end the conflict.
The Kingdom is also concerned about Israel’s continued aggression in Lebanon, which jeopardizes regional peace and sovereignty.
As directed by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and in accordance with the joint Arab-Islamic Summit that took place in Riyadh on November 11, 2023, Saudi Arabia once again denounced actions that jeopardize the security of the Palestinian and Lebanese people. He stressed the importance of creating an independent Palestinian state and putting an end to the occupation while outlining Saudi Arabia’s and its regional partners’ commitment to realistic, time-bound measures to end the conflict.
In response to these events, the Kingdom said that it will hold a combined Arab-Islamic summit in Riyadh on November 11, 2024, to address the ongoing regional developments and Israeli aggression against the Palestinian lands and the Republic of Lebanon.
