WHEN YOU FEEL JEALOUS OF YOUR FRIEND’S SUCCESS

Your friend gets the opportunity you wanted.

They get the scholarship.

They get the job.

Their business starts doing well.

They get married.

They buy something you’ve been praying for.

Everyone is congratulating them, but inside you feel something uncomfortable.

You are happy for them—or at least you are trying to be.

But part of you is thinking:

“Why them and not me?”

Feeling this emotion can happen, but what matters is how you respond to it.

Allah says:

«“Do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you superior to others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of His bounty. Surely Allah has perfect knowledge of all things.” Qur’an 4:3

SOMEONE ELSE’S BLESSING IS NOT YOUR LOSS

Your friend’s success does not mean Allah has reduced your own provision.

Their marriage does not mean yours will never come.

Their job does not mean there is no job for you.

Their business success does not mean you cannot succeed.

Allah can bless two people in completely different ways.

DON’T ALLOW JEALOUSY TO DESTROY FRIENDSHIPS

Sometimes jealousy makes people behave differently.

You stop celebrating your friend’s achievements.

You make negative comments.

You secretly hope they fail.

You become distant.

Or you start comparing yourself with them constantly.

Don’t let someone else’s blessing turn you into someone you don’t want to be.

TURN JEALOUSY INTO DU’A

When you notice yourself feeling jealous, try changing your response.

Instead of:

“Why does she have it?”

Say:

“May Allah bless her, and may Allah bless me with what is best for me.”

Then ask Allah for His bounty.

Work towards your own goals.

Improve yourself.

And remember that Allah’s plan for you is not cancelled because someone else received a blessing.

YOUR STORY IS STILL BEING WRITTEN

You don’t know what Allah has prepared for you.

Maybe your blessing is coming later.

Maybe Allah is preparing you for it.

Maybe Allah will give you something completely different from what you expected.

Trust Him.

HEART CHECK

Celebrate your friend’s blessings without forgetting your own blessings. Their light does not make yours disappear. When your own blessing finally comes, may you have a heart that knows how to be grateful.
