BE THE PERSON WHO HELPS OTHER

Imagine a young person who sees someone struggling and simply says:

“How can I help?”

That simple attitude can change lives.

The Prophet ﷺ taught us the importance of helping and supporting others.

He said: “Whoever relieves a believer of a hardship from the hardships of this world, Allah will relieve him of a hardship from the hardships of the Day of Resurrection.” — Sahih Muslim

Helping others is not something reserved for wealthy people or famous personalities.

You can start wherever you are.

HELP DOESN’T ALWAYS REQUIRE MONEY

Help your mother at home.

Carry something for someone who needs assistance.

Help your younger sibling with homework.

Share useful knowledge.

Visit someone who is sick.

Comfort a friend who is struggling.

Stand up for someone being bullied.

Listen when someone needs to talk.

Sometimes the help someone needs is simply knowing that they are not alone.

DON’T IGNORE PEOPLE’S STRUGGLES

You don’t know what someone is silently carrying.

The classmate who always smiles may be struggling.

The friend who suddenly became quiet may need someone to check on them.

The person who keeps making mistakes may need guidance rather than ridicule.

Be observant.

Be compassionate.

Be willing to help when you can.

MAKE YOURSELF USEFUL

Don’t only ask:

“What can I get?”

Also ask:

“What can I give?”

Your time.

Your knowledge.

Your strength.

Your encouragement.

Your skills.

Your kindness.

These can all become ways of benefiting people.

HEART CHECK

Dear young Muslim, you don’t need to change the entire world. Start with the person standing beside you.

Be someone whose presence makes life a little easier for others.
