Tension gripped parts of Sokoto metropolis on Friday after an Islamic cleric, Malam Musa Lukwa, was reportedly stabbed shortly after leading the Juma’at prayer at his mosque in the Mabera area of the city.
According to reports, the attacker, said to be a young man among the worshippers, allegedly stabbed the cleric twice in the neck shortly after the prayer.
The suspect was reportedly overpowered by other worshippers, who subsequently killed him.
The circumstances surrounding the attack remain unclear as authorities are expected to investigate the incident.
