Help your parents.
Start a business.
Save for your future.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to earn money.
The important question is:
How are you earning it?
ISLAM ENCOURAGES HALAL EARNING
Islam does not teach young Muslims to be lazy or dependent.
Halal work is honourable.
You can learn a skill and sell it.
You can start a small business.
You can work for an employer.
You can offer services online.
You can trade permissible products.
You can earn while still young—as long as the source and method are lawful.
YOUR SKILL CAN BECOME YOUR INCOME
You don’t necessarily need a large amount of capital.
Maybe you’re good at:
- Graphic design
- Writing
- Photography
- Baking
- Hairdressing
- Coding
- Teaching
- Video editing
- Social media management
- Sewing
- Photography
- Digital marketing
Learn the skill.
Improve it.
Offer value.
Get paid honestly.
DON’T DECEIVE PEOPLE FOR MONEY
Never make fraud part of your business strategy.
Don’t sell fake products as genuine.
Don’t lie about what you can do.
Don’t take someone’s money and refuse to provide what you promised.
Don’t steal another person’s work and claim it as yours.
Allah commands believers to deal justly and honestly.
AVOID QUICK-MONEY TRAPS
Young people are often targeted with promises like:
“Invest ₦10,000 and get ₦100,000 tomorrow!”
“Guaranteed profit!”
“No work required!”
Be careful.
If something sounds too good to be true, investigate before giving your money away.
And remember that gambling, fraud and other prohibited methods do not become halal simply because they promise quick profit.
DON’T BE ASHAMED OF STARTING SMALL
Maybe your first business makes only a small profit.
Don’t despise it.
A small halal income is better than a large income obtained through haram.
Build gradually.
Learn from your mistakes.
Treat your customers well.
Keep your promises.
And ask Allah for Barakah.

Your goal should not simply be:
“I want to be rich.”
Let your goal be:
“I want to earn halal, become financially responsible and use what Allah gives me in a way that pleases Him.”
Money is a tool.
Don’t let the desire for money control your Deen.
Earn honestly. Spend wisely. Give generously. And always remember the One who provided the opportunity to earn.
