THE BEST INVESTMENT YOU CAN MAKE THIS FRIDAY IS A GOOD DEED
Every day presents opportunities to earn rewards from Allah, but Jumu’ah offers believers a unique chance to multiply those rewards through sincere acts of worship and kindness. While people spend much of their lives investing in businesses, property, education, and savings, there is one investment that never loses value and never disappoints: investing in good deeds for the sake of Allah.
Allah says:
“And whatever good you put forward for yourselves you will find it with Allah. It is better and greater in reward.”
(Surah Al-Muzzammil 73:20)
This verse reminds us that every sincere act of worship is preserved by Allah. Nothing done purely for His pleasure is ever wasted.
THE GREATEST INVESTMENT HAS ETERNAL RETURNS
The investments of this world can fluctuate. Markets crash, wealth disappears, and possessions fade. However, the rewards of good deeds remain with Allah forever.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“When a person dies, all his deeds come to an end except three: ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.”
(Sahih Muslim)
This hadith teaches that some investments continue to generate rewards even after death. Every act of charity, every lesson taught, and every righteous upbringing can become a continuous source of blessings.
WHY FRIDAY IS SPECIAL
Jumu’ah is the best day of the week.
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“The best day on which the sun has risen is Friday.”
(Sahih Muslim)
It is the day on which:
- Adam (AS) was created.
- Adam (AS) entered Paradise.
- Adam (AS) was sent down to earth.
- There is a special hour during which Allah answers sincere supplications.
Because of its immense virtues, every good deed performed on Friday carries great spiritual significance.
GOOD DEEDS THAT COST LITTLE BUT EARN GREAT REWARD
Many people think earning Allah’s pleasure requires extraordinary actions. In reality, some of the greatest deeds are simple but consistent.
Today, consider investing in:
- Performing Ghusl before Jumu’ah prayer.
- Going early to the mosque.
- Walking calmly to the masjid if possible.
- Listening attentively to the khutbah.
- Reciting Surah Al-Kahf.
- Increasing salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
- Making abundant du’a, especially before Maghrib.
- Giving charity, even if it is a small amount.
- Calling or visiting your parents.
- Reconciling with someone you have disagreed with.
- Smiling sincerely at fellow Muslims.
- Helping someone without expecting anything in return.
None of these actions require great wealth, yet each has the potential to earn immense rewards.
CHARITY IS AN INVESTMENT THAT NEVER DECREASES WEALTH
Many hesitate to give because they fear having less. Islam teaches the opposite.
The Prophet ﷺ said:
“Charity does not decrease wealth.”
(Sahih Muslim)
Whatever is spent sincerely for Allah is replaced in ways that may not always be immediately visible. Sometimes the return comes as increased provision, protection from harm, peace of mind, or blessings in one’s family.
INVEST IN YOUR AKHIRAH BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE
Every Friday is a reminder that life is moving forward. We do not know whether we will witness another Jumu’ah.
Ask yourself:
- If today were my last Friday, what good deed would I wish I had done?
- Have I sought forgiveness from Allah?
- Have I forgiven those who wronged me?
- Have I prayed for my parents?
- Have I given something in charity?
- Have I remembered Allah throughout this day?
The wise believer does not postpone good deeds. Every act performed sincerely today could become the reason for Allah’s mercy tomorrow.
A JUMU’AH CHALLENGE
Before this Friday ends, commit to at least five good deeds:
- Pray Jumu’ah with full concentration.
- Recite Surah Al-Kahf.
- Send abundant salawat upon the Prophet ﷺ.
- Give charity, regardless of the amount.
- Make heartfelt du’a during the last hour before Maghrib.
These simple actions may seem small, but with sincerity, they become investments whose rewards continue long after this world has passed.
May Allah accept our prayers, forgive our sins, increase us in righteous deeds, and make every Jumu’ah a means of drawing closer to Him. Ameen.
